Damaging Actions of Former & Current Directors

Update 07: Yet another NSRC Director bites the dust mid-term…

Andrew Foley, elected to the Board of Directors at the 24 November 2021 AGM, has resigned his post after only 4 months.

According to the Committee meeting minutes Andrew Foley resigned “for personal reasons”:

GB [Gawain Briars, Chairman] noted the resignation of Andrew Foley from the committee for personal reasons. GB thanked Andrew for his support and input during his time on the committee and the members concurred and wished him well.”

Now some might well express their incredulity thus: “Resigned for personal reasons? Come now, a likely story”

Others, who prefer to call a spade a spade, might express their incredulity in the style of Ricky Tomlinson’s Jim Royle character thus: “Resigned for personal reasons, my arse.”

It might well be that the “for personal reasons” explanation was agreed to be used but does anyone seriously believe this universally tendered explanation for resignations, particularly in the public realm?

What we do know is that Andrew Foley had exerted much effort in, what transpired to have been, a futile attempt to dissuade the board from continuing it’s extreme, and wholly unjust, course of action — to expel former director Katrin Schwarz — his attempt to dissuade, as we now know, ended in failure. Former Director Katrin Schwarz expelled…how depressingly predictable

On that basis we believe it quite reasonable to infer that Andrew Foley resigned after concluding that there was no point in remaining on a board of directors brimming with myopic, partisan subordinates so accepting of historical damaging actions perpetrated by fellow directors, including illegality, and their collective support for this type of further damaging action.

The tragedy in all this is that the board has lost yet another impartial, fair and independent minded experienced professional who would have contributed so positively towards ensuring the club’s continued existence. Indeed, for many years, Andrew Foley played a significant part in ensuring the success of the Park Tennis Club in his role as its Chairman.

But of course the board leadership, having clearly demonstrated its intolerance of and hostility towards any individual who challenges or questions their activities, indeed going to the extreme lengths of ridding itself and the club of such individuals, will view Andrew Foley’s resignation as a blessing.
